Spring is in the air! Flowers are blooming and the landscape is coming alive with the colors of Spring.  

 

A short ferry ride to Coupeville,  and then on to the stunning views from Deception Pass Bridge, and a drive through the the daffodil and tulip fields of La Conner make for a wonderful outing! Just make sure to log on to the official Washington State Ferries site to get a reservation!! It is easy to do and makes travel to and from the peninsula so much more relaxing. 

 

While there can be plenty to do while waiting for the ferry on the Port Townsend side, the pickings are slim at the Coupeville dock. A walk on the beach is a great option as long as the weather cooperates. Coupeville itself also offers many fun restaurants as well as an outstanding ice cream shop, KAPAWs, and an amazing Bakery, the Knead & Feed. So consider a day trip to Whidbey Island and beyond.

Springing forward when it still feels like Winter!

It's hard to believe that Daylight Saving starts on Sunday! Time flies here on the peninsula. All of here at the office are looking forward to the the weather becoming warmer and the days becoming longer. 

We are ready to see more signs of spring! Anticipation of seeing new ducklings and maybe a few new otter pups outside swimming in the sound make us all want to start donning sweaters rather than winter coats! Please feel free to email some signs of spring that you observe! We might even include a few in our upcoming Blogs.

 

With our many windy winter days, now is a good time to start thinking about spring yard clean up. If landscaping isn't part of your lease, the Voice often has landscapers listed in the classifieds. 

Keeping Critters at Bay

As the weather warms up a bit it the wildlife can come out looking for goodies. Please do not set out food for the "Woodland Creatures." Any food set out tends to draw pests such as mice, rats, raccoons, deer, and even the occasional bear! Bird feeders can also draw these unwanted pests. Please do not  store dog/cat food outside for the same reasons. If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to call us here at the office, 360-437-0800.

Enjoying the peninsula

Pacific Northwest Living is such a treat. In in our corner of the world we enjoy viewing wildlife on a daily basis. From gentle deer to soaring eagles we are blessed to live in such a great part of the country.

One challenge we do face is the rainy weather. A helpful idea for dealing with all those wet boots and shoes is to purchase a boot tray to place right inside your door. These very inexpensive plastic trays allow your shoes to dry and keep your floors free of water and muck. These can be picked up at a variety of stores, including Walmart. We have found them much more effective than regular doormats. Another great advantage is just how easy they are to clean off.

This is a great time to check that your renter's insurance is up to date. Please verify this and send an updated copy to our office as appropriate.

Rental Specialist at Your Service

Here at Admiralty Property Management we value our tenants and our aim is always to be "Leading and Serving with Excellence." One way in which we facilitate this is by having Julianne Kobelin our resident rental specialist as part of our team. She is the one who answers your calls during our regular office hours of Monday-Friday from 8:30 to 5:00. She works hard to handle any needs that arise. She does an excellent job of responding to her messages, so if she is not able to answer, feel free to leave her a message.

Julianne,  our mountain mover is always ready to go to bat for you when you are in need of a repair! She is here to coordinate repairs for you. She wants to remind you that once she has contacted you, if you do not hear from the vendor she sets up for you within 24 hours, please call and let her know. She will contact the vendor and make sure things get moving along. 

When contacting us by email for appliance repairs at kevinhunter@hotmail.com please include appliance brand/make, model number and serial number. A brief description of the problem along with a picture really helps us in diagnosing the trouble with our trusted vendors.

Tenant Winterizing Checklist

December is here and winter is well on its way. Here are a few Winterizing details for you:

  • Please remove hoses from outdoor spigots
  • Please install styrofoam covers on all outdoor spigots
  • Drain hoses coil and store in garage if possible
  • On the coldest nights (below zero- up to about 20 degrees), run just a small dripping amount of water on faucets that are on an exterior wall (eg: kitchen faucet if the sink is at a window looking outside.)
  • Be sure to have de-icer on hand to reduce any slipping on steps and pathways
  • Consider a new doormat and/or boot tray to cut down on tracking in the rain and muck
  • Check furnace filters and replace as needed. This will also help out with heating costs
