Spread a little love as you downsize!

This is a time of year that many folks make commitments to go through their belongings and get rid of things they don’t need or use on a regular basis. I have a friend that does a bag-a-day for forty days every year. She either donates or tosses a bag everyday and when spring arrives she is free to enjoy the new season. As a renter, this type of challenge always makes for easier moves. Downsizing is never fun to do at the time, but the results are incredibly freeing.
I try to do this on a regular basis. I go through different areas of my belongings from sewing and crafting to travel supplies. I ask myself tough questions such as; do I love it, when was the last time I used it, and would I really miss it or replace it if it got lost. Priorities change over time and my time with family and friends has become more valuable to me than material goods. So downsizing just makes sense.
My husband and I sold our home this summer and I had three moving sales during our moving/downsizing process. We have been in our new place for 7 months so I debated as to whether I would take the challenge this year. I decided that I would, I am glad that I did. I went through all my travel items and donated two bags and tossed another full bag. The space gained in my closet was amazing! It is so much easier to maintain a space that isn’t crammed full! Knowing that some of the donated items may go on to new homes make letting go that much easier.
I encourage you to do some downsizing this month. Then plan a fun outing with family and friends to celebrate!

Ringing in the New Year

Welcome to 2018!

I’m not quite sure how the calendar seems to fly by these days!Seems like there is no way that 2017 could already be over and gone.
Now is a good time to test your smoke alarms and to change air filters. Clean air filters mean easier breathing and lower heating costs. With the rain and wind, remember to keep an eye on your gutters and keep them cleaned out.
It is also a good time to check on your renter’s or homeowner’s insurance and be sure they are renewed and up to date.
We hope this year is full of new adventures and plenty of time with friends and family as you enjoy life here on the peninsula.

Happy Holidays!!

What fun to enjoy a White Christmas! The blanket of white was so beautiful. We here at Ludlow Bay Realty/Admiralty Property Management hope each of you had a very Merry Christmas surrounded by friends and family. It is so nice that we live in a time in which Skype and FaceTime keep loved ones close when miles separate us. Sharing fun times and making new memories makes the holidays bright, while reminiscing about past Christmases brings added joy to the season.

It is that time of year!

It is that time of year again! Time to winterize your rental.

The following is a helpful checklist for you:

*Remove hoses from outdoor spigots and drain before coiling them for storage in the garage if you have one.
*Install styrofoam covers on all outdoor spigots.
*Check outdoor lights and replace bulbs if needed.
*Check furnace filters and replace as needed. This chore helps out with heating costs.
*Now is a good time to pull the fridge out and clean under and behind. They work hard in the summer months and cleaning around them helps them to run more efficiently.
*This is also a good time to clean out your kitchen and bathroom sink drains as well as your tub/shower drain. Hardware stores carry plastic strip drain cleaners that really make a quick job of it.
*On the coldest nights (below zero- up to about 20 degrees), run just a small dripping amount of water on faucets that are on an exterior wall (eg: kitchen faucet if the sink is at a window looking outside.)
*It is always good to have de-icer on hand to reduce any slipping on steps and pathways. If you choose to use clay cat litter for this purpose, remember that it may require extra clean up in the spring.
*Consider a new doormat and/or boot tray to cut down on
tracking in the rain and muck

Dean Larson, the man behind the picture - Part 2

Who is that distinguished grey haired gentleman on our website, one may ask? Here is a little bit about the man behind the picture.

Dean Larson has lived a full life. To share about Dean one must share about his lovely wife, Paula. Married for 56 years, they have traveled the world together. Dean worked for Texaco for years as Assistant General Manager. Early on in their marriage they were stationed in Central America . While living there they were blessed with two boys who have since grown up and have families of their own. They are the proud grandparents of four exceptional grandchildren! Dean and Paula celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by taking the whole family to one of their favorite places to cruise, Alaska, making wonderful memories for the family to share. Over the years the Larsons have enjoyed seeing the world both through work and cruising.

Dean and Paula treasure their Port Ludlow home and it's stunning view of the channel. He feels like he is on vacation while at home. He and his wife are active members of their local church where Dean serves as an elder on the board. They enjoy working in the yard, playing card games and board games, including their current favorite, Rummy Kubes.

How did they end up in Port Ludlow, you might wonder? It all started as they were looking at a magazine of the Pacific Northwest and wondering where they should retire. Loving the area and the weather that it had to offer, they ended up getting a video that they were sharing with friends when they realized this might just be the place for them. At first they sought out Sequim, but soon realized that Port Ludlow was a better fit. The milder weather and year round greenery really filled the bill. That was 19 years ago and they haven't looked back.

The Ludlow Bay Realty/ Admiralty Property Management is glad to have Dean and all that he brings to our team.

Record Breaking Summer

Congratulations!! We have almost made it through one long and very hot summer! I can honestly say that I am ready for fall! So many beautiful summer days have made for a memorable summer. Looking ahead to the fall means some cooler days and nights!

We all hope you are enjoying the long days and stunning views of Puget Sound, Port Ludlow, and the surrounding area. Of course, now is a great time to enjoy amazing seafood and fresh veggies and fruit from our local farmer's markets.

Just to remind you, our regular office hours are Monday-Friday from 8:30-5:00. We look forward to serving you!

Let Freedom Ring!

Another year older and the USA is still looking pretty grand from where we are sitting here on the peninsula! The sun shining on the flag sure makes for a fine summer. The freedom we still enjoy in this country is reason to celebrate. From coast to coast let freedom ring! As you celebrate, we hope that you are able to savor time with friends and family.

Just a few reminders, if you are going out of town and will have friend watching your place, please make sure you leave the office number, 360-437-0800, with them should they need to contact us. A timer for your lights is also always a good idea. Additionally, leaving porch lights on, according to law enforcement, is a good idea.

Wishing you and yours a very enjoyable summer,
Kevin, Dean, Sherri, and Julianne

June Bugs!

As the weather gets warmer, lots of little critters are out and about. If you have pets be sure to watch out for flees and ticks. Keeping them up on their meds will keep them happy and healthy. Be sure to dress appropriately for walks in the community as ticks find us a tasty treat.
There are many natural homemade pest recipes on the internet. Feel free to send us your tried and true ones and I will pass them on.

Mayflowers on the Peninsula

Spring comes quickly here on the peninsula! What a glorious thing to enjoy all the new growth and beautiful blooms in Port Ludlow. It's a great time to get out and enjoy the area and the beauty around us. This time of year has a special magic when the trees seem to go from brown to green almost overnight and the song of the birds is heard in the morning's light. This is the perfect time to enjoy some leisurely walks around the area. Refreshingly cool evenings without the summer pests make for lovely strolls.
This is the perfect time for visits to local haunts from charming Port Gamble to the scenic beauty of La Push. Make a day of it now before school is out and beat the crowds.
Drop us a note and let us know your favorite area day trip. There are so many hidden gems within a few hour's drive.
